Granite Flats Pastoral Company

Where is Granite Flat you may ask? It is on the Omeo Highway, about 10 kilometres from Mitta Mitta. A small settlement established in the 1860’s to service the miners who swarmed to the area in search of gold. It boasts the oldest Catholic church in Australia and a tiny well kept cemetery. It is also home of Granite Flats Pastoral Company, a family farming business encompassing three generations of Walsh’s. They have also purchased properties at Fairyknowe and Tallandoon as the family has expanded. For 100 years the Walsh families have strived to breed the perfect beast, with superior carcasses, tenderness, taste and quality. They have joined Cattle Care, are EU Accredited, attended Grass Growing Workshops to improve their pastures and buy top quality bulls from studs like Mawarra Herefords and Glenellerslie Hereford Studs. They breed big framed, bold Hereford cattle with quiet temperaments. When asked about his beef, Mick Walsh proudly says ” its hard to improve on perfection! “
