Frasers from Heatherlie

The Fraser family has been involved in farming at Heatherlie for six generations. The property consists of a mixed enterprise, including a composite beef herd and sheep producing fine wool and fat lambs. The beef herd is managed to match beef production with pasture growth through the year. In order to have a year round supply of prime grass fed beef, we sow summer and winter fodder crops. The family have been heavily involved in the Landcare movement since its inception. We plant shelter belts with native trees along gullies and creeks. Twenty percent of the property is fenced off from stock and maintained as native bush land. We understand as custodians of the property that we need to have conservation in the management of the property so future generations can continue producing beef, lambs and wool sustainably.
